Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPEKRONA-2IM flaw detectors carry out an electrospark method for non-destructive testing of the continuity of insulating coatings applied to metal products subject to corrosion and adverse environmental influences. These products include: main pipelines, oil and gas pipelines; tanks and vessels under pressure; boilers in boiler installations, elements of water supply systems; lifting and transport mechanisms. Therefore, the device finds its application in the energy, oil and processing industries, machine, aircraft and shipbuilding.
KRONA-2IM determines the presence of defects, uniformity of structure and continuity of epoxy, bitumen, polymer, enamel insulating materials.
DEVICE AND PRINCIPLE OF WORK
The flaw detector consists of a high-voltage transformer that increases the mains voltage to the required value; an electronic unit that generates and sends electrical impulses to the transformer and serves to indicate the value of the operating voltage and issue an audible and light signal when a defect is detected; a probe that serves to supply voltage to the controlled object and carry out continuous and local control of insulation; and a grounding switch designed to protect in the event of a short circuit. In addition, the device has the ability to output test results to an external device, and also allows you to process and save information in stationary conditions. Flaw detectors are equipped with outputs for connecting an alarm, a remote control system and a defect size registration device.
KRONA-2IM flaw detectors create a potential difference between the tested item connected to one pole of a high-voltage power source and the flaw detector probe touching the insulating surface and connected to the other pole of the same voltage source. If the continuity of the insulation is broken, an electrical breakdown of the air gap between the product and the probe occurs, which fixes the device and thereby reveals local through defects in the insulating coatings, signaling this with sound and light indication.
CAPABILITIES OF KRONA-2IM
The functionality of the electrospark flaw detector includes the following functions:
• continuous control of insulating coatings of metal structures with a diameter of 219...1420 mm;
• selective control of bituminous, epoxy and polymer coatings of any diameter;
• detection of microdefects with a diameter of 0.6 ± 0.2 mm in coatings with a thickness of 0.35 to 9 ± 0.5 mm, while having a speed of movement of the control probe within 0.25 ± 0.025 m/s;
• control of isolation within 8 hours when using the network power supply unit;
• insulation control within 3.5 hours when using an independent power source.
For Krona-2IM flaw detectors, it is possible to equip with a special probe for continuous inspection of small-diameter items 57 - 193.7 mm.
