  • Condition: Here is a American Flyer # 561 DIESEL HORN. Review all photos. Cosmetically this 561 Horn has remained exceptionally clean. I don't believe it saw much use. The dark green and white paint retention is just superb on this accessory. I see one rather minor scratch in the green curved base area and a few minute paint chips here and there. The Alco and Loco picture is extremely clean. Overall I would grade the condition of this diesel horn unit itself to be an EX+. Review the photos and make your own judgement. This 561 comes with a control button which has great lettering. There are some wire melt marks on the black control base due to hookup wire being wrapped around it for many years. The correct instruction sheet is present. It is a little yellowed and has some edge tears and creases. It is stamped " 551042". The 561 box shows card board wear. [CONTINUED BELOW]:

    Description

    The 561 box shows cardboard wear, some tears, creases, dents,  and cello tape reinforcements here and there on the box. All flaps are present. The box ends still have nice No. 561 DIESEL HORN lettering. I bench tested this and it did operate and made a kind of sound approximating Gilbert's 1950's idea of a Diesel Horn. There is an adjusting screw which allows for a Flyer "Handyman" to adjust the tone of the sound.  These 561 Diesel Horns are not illuminated.  Very difficult to find a used 561 Horn this clean...great addition to a Flyer collection or an upgrade.
